Cornerstone’s Approach to Christian Marriage Counseling

Much may be said today about what Christian Counseling is… or is not. Is it defined only as counseling that is provided to an individual or couple by a Counselor who is a Christian?  Yes, at Cornerstone Marriage & Family Ministries we believe that to be so, but we believe Christian Marriage Counseling at it’s best to be that and yet more:

Christian Marriage Counseling involves the establishment of a therapeutic relationship between the client(s) and the Christian Counselor. As the client, you will have first made it clear that you’re interested in having a distinctively Christian Counselor. We consider that the greatest advantage of Christian Marriage Counseling is that you have a third Counselor in the room; and that person of course being the Lord Himself, the Holy Spirit.  He is invited to be present in each session; this is what Jesus intended when He promised us that He as a person,  would minister to us through counseling. Jesus said, but the Counselor, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send Him in My name; will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.

We believe the Holy Spirit should be invited into the therapy room to offer counsel, comfort and insight into the issues that you are actively seeking counsel for. No doubt, many different matters will arise as a result of the Spirit of God being engaged in the counseling process.  This allows for an environment of love an, truth, peace and safety to be established, so then you may become fully-transparent to pursue the presenting problems (as well as any hidden or forgotten issues) that you may need help with.

Trusted Counseling With Sound Biblical Doctrine

Here at  Cornerstone, we believe God’s Word is sufficient to address the real life issues we face today.   God’s Word is sufficient, necessary, and relevant to equip God’s people to address the complex issues of life in a broken world. Your Christian Counselor has a working knowledge of the scriptures, principles and directives of God as recorded in the Scriptures. He or she may also incorporate any truths they’ve acquired through their training which may be helpful and useful to you or your family by way of therapeutic intervention.

All truth is God’s truth, and although the modern psychological concepts and interventions are considered theoretical in nature, we know as a fact that Scripture is inerrant and is profitable for correction and instruction. These important tools, all of them, in the hands of an experienced Christian Counselor and therapist can be used of God to meet the needs of any person like yourself that is actively seeking guidance and wanting of God’s many blessings.

At Cornerstone, we offer trusted and confidential Christian Counseling. Our experience as shown that when a prospective client and his or her Christian Counselor earnestly seeks God’s face willand  favor that we are well equipped to provide sound biblical counsel that we believe God would honor, approve and bless.
