If you care about your children and grandchildren please read this carefully. We as a nation stand at a crossroads where the institution of marriage and the future of our families is in grave danger - more than any other time in history. Gay activists and left-wing liberals are mounting…poised…and making unprecedented moves to redefine marriage, and deal a devastating blow to the traditional family. Already, liberal judges (like the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court) and liberal government officials (like San Francisco Mayor, Gavin Newsom) and others are take unilateral action, legalizing homosexual marriage. This is only the start- the floodgates have been opened.
President Bush has courageously responded announcing his support in favor of a constitutional marriage amendment saying, “If we are to prevent the meaning of marriage from being changed forever, our nation must enact a constitutional amendment to protect marriage in America.” He appealed to congress and the American people saying, “Decisive and democratic action is needed, because attempts to redefine marriage in a single state or city could have serious consequences throughout the country.”
Dr James Dobson concurs, affirming that the FMA is the only sure way to protect the institution of marriage from being dismantled by gay activists and radical deconstructionist judges.”
U.S. Representative. Marilyn Musgrave, R-Colo., and U.S. Senator. Wayne Allard, R-Colo., have cooperatively introduced identical legislation in their respective houses of Congress. This amendment to the Constitution- the Federal Marriage Amendment, (FMA) would preserve the traditional definition of marriage securing it as a union solely between a man and a woman.
If passed the Federal Marriage Amendment would prevent liberal judges and government officials from taking unilateral action legalizing same-sex marriage. But there is a rising tide among liberal, homosexual activists to oppose the amendment and rip apart the fabric of marriage that this nation was founded upon.
If the God-ordained basis for the family does fail on a large scale, children will pay a terrible price. Already, since the late 60s with the sweeping sexual revolution and legislation of no-fault divorce we’ve witnessed the tragic, ever-increasing breakdown of families. To the extent that now half of all families end up broken by divorce, leaving millions of children every year to be raised by single parents. Researchers keep finding more and more evidence of the devastating effects of family breakdown on children. I shutter to think what would happen to children if we allow the legalization of same-sex marriages.
If ever there was a time for Christians to get involved it is now. Failure to act can only assure that same-sex marriage will soon become a reality throughout our land. We must not stand idly by and fail to do our part!
Traditional, biblical marriage between a man and woman is the God-ordained building block of the family, the cornerstone of our society, the foundation of our nation’s culture. There is no issue more deserving of the protections of our Constitution than Marriage and the Family. If the defense of Marriage is not worthy of a Constitutional Amendment, nothing is! So, what can we do?

Action Item # 1 – Pray fervently that God will protect His divine plan for marriage and the family.
Action Item #2 – Contact your senators and representativesin Washington, expressing your support. To contact your federal legislators by e-mail or letter log on to http://www.congress.org. This site is helpful and easy to use. Just enter your ZIP code and click to send a letter or e-mail to your legislators.
To contact your legislators by phone call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will help you with names, addresses, etc.
Action Item #3 – Sign the Official Petition of the Federal Marriage Amendment, or sign the enclosed petition, get your friends to sign it, and return it to us so that we can present these petitions to Rep Musgrave in the coming weeks.
